A chance to discover and enjoy spring flora and fauna in the stunning Dart Valley
Glorious Springtime – a chance to discover and enjoy spring flora and fauna in the stunning Dart Valley
We`ll head over the edge of the moor and discover a wealth of Bronze Age remains before descending down the Dart Valley through beautiful ancient oak woodland. As we follow the Dart River, we`ll have the opportunity to enjoy the glorious woodland surroundings, resplendent in new springtime growth. We may catch a glimpse of summer migrants that come here to breed including pied flycatchers and redstarts. Eventually, we`ll climb steeply out of the valley to a stunning viewpoint to witness the full sweep of the Dart River beneath us before returning to Venford Reservoir.

Venford Reservoir is a bit of a hidden gem, one that you only really notice once you’re on top of it. Sitting between the craggy hills of Dartmoor National Park, it provides a relatively sheltered (once you’re in the trees) location to spot wildlife, have a picnic, hook a fish or take a stroll.
